Is there a "standard" color code scheme for various thickness of lead blankets?

Rad_Toy

I have been in the field 27 years, and other than the new permanent lead that is covered with a gray material, all lead blankets are yellow.  No coding.

well dont forget the varying thickness of grime you find on some.....it can change the color a bit lol

Sounds like a good idea.  I remember thinking I was grabbing a low density blanket and throwing it over my shoulder only to find it was a high density one.  That extra five pounds per square foot can add up in a hurry.  :o  Would be a great way to differentiate between the two.

I just ordered some blankets in beautiful TVA blue, for use in shielding exit portals during movement of old steam generators. It doesn't distinguish between high or low density. It's mostly a perception is reality thing. (and it didn't cost anything extra).
