Working in New Nuclear Power Construction Info.

I'm a Navy Nuke getting out in 2 years. If I want to work on one of these new constructions will a mechanical engineering degree serve me well, or do I need Nuclear engineering degree to get a job?

either one will get you work.  what work you want to do with the degree is more pertinent than what degree will get you work.  nuke eng may give you a more firm toe hold, maybe not.  a mech eng degree will give a larger footprint in the business world.

If I get a mech engineering degree will my experience in the navy give me enough credibility to build and work on these new reactors? I know im set if I want to be an operator with just my naval experience. But I'd like to do more.

The mechanical engineering would be as good or better unless your desire is to become a fuel engineer.

Hope you don't have to settle for becoming just an operator (with a six-figure income), but there are worse things that could happen...

That is funny, I have learned more as an operator than I ever did earning a nuclear engineering degree.  I am way ahead of my college peers in pay too
