...millstone 3 (four loop westinghouse 84) has centrifugal charging pumps as opposed to positive displacement...are there others...

Callaway also has centrifigul charging pumps. Of course, we're also a Westinghouse 4 loop.

Sequoyah (4-loop W) also has CCP (PD abandoned years ago).
Turkey Point (3-loop W) still has PD pumps. Maintenance headache.

Positive displacment pumps can present a real danger more so than cent. pump. they will pump no matter what even with the down stream valve closed and then KFB.

D.C. Cook (four loop Westinghouse) has two centrifugal and one positive displacement per unit. We only run the centrifugal pump but we maintain both CCPs and the PDP. I've been here a decade and a half and have never seen the PDP run.

true dat on those make up pumps, those beasts never tire and only probs i seen was where somebody isolated the seal water while running. they are solid technology from the past
