Let's put this question on the top of your "what not to ask your future employer" list. 

You might ask them, "can I use drugs if I have this job?"  If the answer is "NO" (as in the case of the U.S. Navy) you probably don't want to ask whether or not you'll be tested.  That could lead your future employer to believe that you'll... violate the terms of your end user license agreement.

If you're asking "will they find out about all of the drugs I didn't tell them about?" you're already headed down the wrong path.

The Navy has a zero tolerance policy towards illegal drug use and unauthorized use of prescription drugs.  Every command has a random drug screening program and performs "command sweeps," in which they take a sample of pee pee from everyone on board from the Commanding Officer to the lowliest E-nothing mess crank.  In fact, I just donated to operation Golden Flow today (they're required to "watch the fluid exit the body" so make sure you crack a good joke while they're watching you -- except in boot camp). 

Within 24 hours of reporting to RTC Great Lakes you'll be required to drop your pants and undies to the floor and lift your shirt up while filling your bottle.  Don't worry though.  After a while you will eventually be selected as a monitor as well (and with your luck it'll be on hot dog day).

My strong recommendation:  Don't use drugs while in the Navy.  They'll kick you out.  Also, if you're worried about getting busted for things you didn't report while applying for your waiver(s) you might want to get those cleared up before reporting to boot camp.

They use a Gas Chromotography type test, that they have to send into the lab for (a piss test). It is more accurate than the "dip test" sticks some places use (another piss test). Also, in DEP and throughout the rest of you navy career the drug tests will be observed, so I hope you aren't shy peeing in front of someone. Also, if you are thinking about using "the whizzinator" or "sneaky pete" or one of those other fake wieners, it is highly doubtful you will succeed. Especially at bootcamp. My piss test at boot camp consisted of about 6 or 7 us in a row and we had to drop our pants to our knees and lift our shirts above our nipples and stand there like that until they told us to pee, which was about 20 seconds later. I remember one kid couldn't piss and they made him shuffle over to the toliet with his pants down and sit there holding his shirt past his nipples till he could go.
     As for follicle tests... no, that is too expensive. Spinal taps are illegal. Blood tests no... I know the saliva test has been gaining popularity in the civilian world, but if they do switch to that it has even less of a detection period.
     For detection times visit www.erowid.org. Keep in mind times may vary and there are ways to marginally speed up the excretion from the body. Do some research. But yeah... you'll only get urine tests. If you do accidentally use while your in report as soon as possible because then it is a medical problem rather than a legal problem.

I have a secret on how to pass drug tests and avoid speeding tickets.  Don't do drugs or drive faster than the posted limits.  To pass academic tests put the video contoller down and study the required material.  To keep from getting fat exercise and eat a healthy diet.  To avoid VD and unplanned children don't have sex outside of marriage.   I could go on all day on how to have a happy life, but most of this is all in a book thousands of years old.

No matter how they test, you'll pass as long as you study.  I remember some guys I was in with would get nervous when they got the call for their HIV test because they didn't have time to study, but they pulled through and so will you.

Let me recap our Plan of the Day last Friday.

"EM3 <Name> Has been charged with illegal use of Cocaine. MM3 <Name> Has been charged with illegal use of Cocaine. FN <Name> Has been charged with illegal use of Marijuana. 1/2 Months pay for 2 months, 45 days extra duty, 45 days restriction, pending administrative separation from the Navy".

Don't condone "accidental" use of drugs. And as for a medical problem than a legal problem, your though process is severely flawed....Even if somebody spikes your drink at a bar, it's your own fault for leaving your drink unattended, and obviously can't be trusted to drink responsibly so you shouldn't be trusted in the Navy at all. You will get kicked out, accidental or not. Period.
