regaining enescorted clearance (need help)

   I have had an unescorted clearance in the past. I worked at only two nuclear plants, TMI, and Peach Bottom. Both are Exelon plants, both jobs were for the outage. I am an union electrician. My last work was at Peach Bottom on 09/17/2008. I was employed by Shaw Stone & Webster. I know it's been over 12 months since last access, going on two years now. What do I do to keep this status and stay in the system? I don't to have years go by till I ever get another chance at this! If ever.
Work is not good for the union crafts through out the country. Working at any of the nuclear plants at all, I am a traveler in the respective local union. I don't currently see anywhere or anyway that I will be getting a job referral coming this fall for any of the outages and my time out of the nuclear field will only lengthen.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions on how to try to stay somewhat current with my renewal of the clearance. Thanks in advance.

Ill add this at some if not all nukes if your a contractor you have to badge in and out of the PA once per ten days or you badge is placed on hold.  If not taken off hold within 30 days its destroyed.  For house folks I think its 6 months now a day.

As for BOP thats 30 days in other words if you have not been under observation or you have an extended injury/illness or even vacation where you will be away from work you have to be re-investigated to regain access.

If it's been more than 12 months, your access has been long since revoked.  Some people like to keep their badges active by getting badged at a plant and running the turnstiles every 29 days.  Other people prefer not to be tied down to the law in order to hold unescorted access.  I am not sure exactly how it works when people go the "under a Behavioral Observation Program" route. 

At this point, I don't think it matters for you.  While it's been too long for your access, showing employers that you've been granted unescorted access in the past should quell some fear that they'll send you out there and then have to spend money to send you home because you couldn't pass security.  On the other hand, I don't think having current access would give you a really big advantage.  I wouldn't put too much weight on it, and wouldn't spend time worrying about it.
There really is not a way to gain UA without having an initial reason for having it through an employer or contract-holder. 

Every nomad nuclear worker has to go through the security screening even if they currently hold a clearance.  Many of us take months off and work another outage where we need a clearance.  I doubt too many employers are that concerned about you having to get another clearance.  It's not like you get a clearance for "X" plant and it's good for every plant in the country.  Unless you're working at a DOE plant which requires a Q clearance, it shouldn't take all that long to check up on what you've done and where you've been over the last year.  Don't worry about it.

Then why give bad advice concerning turnstile games??

Behavioral Observation and its applicability are found in 10 CFR 73.56 (e)(6)(f)
