First read about it in 1990 in Jacob Shapiro's
Radiation Protection. I'd say every person getting a health physics/radiation safety degree today either reads it or has some professor droll on about it. That said, it's good that it was published in this well-read publication since the general public knows nothing of it. Now if they'll just do a similar article to educate the public, specifically frequent flyers, on their dose in commercial air flights
