"According to the team, this is because the iron in stainless steel has a chemical affinity with the silicon in glass, accelerating corrosion."   I expected this article to call out Cr, Ni, Mn, but it called out Fe.   So why is this article only debating the use of stainless?  It should be all steel varieties.  Only one article blogger comment noted that vitrified waste isn't likely to be in 55 gallon drums...
