"Packaged" Health and Safety Programs

Has anyone purchased and used a "packaged" Health and Safety Program?  I am investigating and considering purchasing one for a construction company that does mostly fossil fuel plant work.  Any comments would be appreciated.

extremely bare bones... each unit will have to be "tweeked" a lot.  its a fair template but thats it -like all templates its full of holes

Save your money.  You can get just as much useful information from the OSHA Small Business Handbook - http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/small-business.html#create  - to develop your own program.  The canned programs are very basic and require a lot of customization. 

The canned programs usually only cover the OSHA stuff.  Depending on who you are working for or your company's philosophy on safety, you may need to include some NFPA, ANSI, etc information.

You could probably do a search for modules you need on the net.  Another possibility is to use your network of friends in the business to obtain examples of programs (that have been approved) and borrow what you need from each of them to make your own.

It usually takes about 45 - 60 minutes to create a completely customized safety program on my website (http://www.mysafetyprogram.com). The final program is state specific, includes English and Spanish safety rules, and comes as a PDF.  However, as a previous poster noted it contains mainly OSHA material.  Additional information required could be included in a Site Safety and Health Plan.
