The issue is the linear Non threshold model currently used. Radiation Hormesis is gaining momentum. Any study of low dose health effects starting with the million-mouse project have not been able to produce any conclusive results. On the practical side with the variation of background around the globe without a significant correlation to cancer rates, with the exception of Kerala beach in India, is the best indication that the linear model is not valid. The linear model is a conservative means of radiation exposure regulations without any conclusive data previously. We have radon spas hailed as curative. Medical exposure is a good indicator of radiation exposure effects; massive amounts of radiation are applied to kill off cancerous cells that to me tend to show the possible benefit to very low doses and supports the radiation hormesis theory (my opinion). Today I am going for another Catscan as a follow up on my cancer surgery, another 1000mrem determined to be in my best interest by my doctor.
