Operators at the Fermi 2 nuclear power plant performed an emergency shutdown on Monday evening following a fire in the turbine building. The blaze was extinguished within seven minutes, and the facility remains in a safe and stable condition. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is currently monitoring DTE Energy as they assess the cause of the incident and prepare for necessary repairs before returning the reactor to service.

The nuclear plant remains in "safe and stable condition," and the fire was extinguished within minutes, according to DTE.
