...i think what you are asking is...

...my crew has a stop work dose rate of .5 milli Sievert (50 milli rem) per hour at one meter...

...or my whole crew cannot receive more than .5 milli Sievert (50 milli rem) total collective dose during this job...

...what is that in micro Sievert?...

...the anwer is 500 micro Sievert ...

   ...1 Sievert is 100 rem...

...the symbol M means million...you won't have millions of Sieverts...

...normally in jobs of this kind, the units are in "milli" (m), which means thousandths...in your case thousandths of a Sievert, called milli Sievert (mSv)...1 milli Sievert is 100 milli rem (mrem)...

...let me know if this is what you needed or if i misunderstood you...

mrjohn....as wlrun3 sayed, ya ain't gonna have that many sieverts.  iffen ya do, yer crew is dead.  a mega sieverts would be 1e8 rem.  ya wood not have time to complete most tasks.  if ya get instructed to hold them to 0.5e8 rem, you should thank yer boss, and go home to call the authorities.  'n tell yer crew to go home too.

perhaps i jumpt to a conclusion two quickly.  how big is that source?  what task yinz gonna due, shielding?  iffen yer shielding is big enough 'n yer source is small enough, it may be doable.  then agin, maybe a roboshielder is in yer future.

   ...if its a sealed source...

...assuming cobalt 60 and 1000 curies...

   ...rem per hour @ 1m = .5 C E N = .5 (1000 Ci) ((1.17)(100%) + (1.33)(100%))

      =  1250 rem per hour @ 1m

   ...assuming 100 curies

      =  125 rem per hour @ 1m

...I still think he's talking about an allowable dose per worker per shift
of 50 milli rem (.5 milli Sievert)...
