Urenco will expand its National Enrichment Facility in Eunice, New Mexico, by adding 2.1 million Separative Work Units of capacity. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2029, with the first low-enriched uranium production expected in 2032. The project will utilize gas-centrifuge technology to increase the site output by nearly 50 percent.

This expansion aims to bolster the domestic nuclear fuel supply chain as the United States seeks to reduce reliance on foreign uranium sources. The additional capacity will support the existing fleet of light water reactors and provide necessary feedstock for future high-assay low-enriched uranium production required by advanced reactor designs.
