Kyoto Fusioneering is relocating its U.S. headquarters to Tennessee to partner with Oak Ridge National Laboratory on the construction of the UNITY-3 facility. This project aims to provide shared infrastructure for validating tritium breeding blanket technology, a component required for future commercial fusion power plants to produce their own fuel.

The facility addresses a technical gap in the fusion industry by allowing developers to test blanket systems in a controlled nuclear environment. By centralizing this testing capability, the project seeks to reduce the financial and technical burden on individual fusion companies while accelerating the development of the broader fusion energy supply chain.
