Blue Energy and GE Vernova Hitachi have initiated the next phase of development for a 2.5 GW power plant in Victoria, Texas. The project plans to integrate GE Vernova gas turbines with five BWRX-300 small modular reactors to supply electricity to a data center. Engineering, licensing, and safety analysis will proceed ahead of a final investment decision scheduled for 2027.

Blue Energy and GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy have signed the agreement launching the next phase of their collaboration to deploy a 2.5 GW gas-plus-nuclear power plant in Texas. ;

In May, Blue Energy - a vertically integrated deployment platform for financeable, turnkey nuclear power plants compatible with leading reactor technology - announced it was joining up with GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) to collaborate on the project, which will see Blue Energy power a data centre using an initial 1 GW of power supplied by using two GE Vernova gas turbines. A further 1.5 GW of power from up to five GVH BWRX-300 small modular reactors will then be added.
