Georgia Power filed an agreement with state regulators in which Google will subscribe to planned nuclear uprates at Plants Hatch and Vogtle. The arrangement adds roughly 96 megawatts of capacity while generating about $900 million in projected customer benefits.

The proposal introduces a new tariff structure allowing corporate buyers to fund capacity increases and receive zero-emission credits in return. This model provides a financial pathway for utilities to expand generation at existing reactors while shielding non-participating ratepayers from incremental costs associated with the upgrades.

Under the agreement, which is subject to approval by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), Google will support uprates on Georgia Power's owned portion of the nuclear units at Plants Vogtle and Hatch that will allow the facilities to add approximately 96 megawatts of new capacity to the electric grid to serve Georgia Power customers. Google's subscription is expected to enable approximately $900 million in projected benefits to customers over the life of the units.
