Ginna
The R.E. Ginna Clean Energy Center’s single reactor can produce up to 576 megawatts (MW) of clean, emissions-free energy, enough electricity to power the equivalent of more than 400,000 homes. The plant, located in Ontario, New York, is named after Robert Emmett Ginna (pronounced guh-NAY), who helped modify the Atomic Energy Act to permit research into using nuclear energy for electricity. Rochester Gas & Electric's Ginna (RE Ginna, Robert E. Ginna) nuclear plant is near Rochester, New York. It is a single unit Westinghouse 2-Loop pressurize light water reactor, similar to those at Point Beach, Kewaunee, and Prairie Island.
