Construction of Unit 1 began in May 1974 and Unit 2 in March 1975. Both units are Westinghouse-designed pressurized water reactors. Unit 1 was connected to the grid on 13 August 1983 and entered commercial operation in December 1984. Unit 2 was connected on 23 October 1985. In November 2007 a release of radioactive particles occurred at Unit 1, first rated INES level 1 and reclassified as level 2 in April 2008.
