About This Site
Written by NukeWorker from public records: facts that do not change. Operator, status and capacity come from the live data elsewhere on this page. Sources: Wikipedia: Berkeley nuclear power station.
Berkeley is a nuclear power station site on the bank of the River Severn in Gloucestershire, England, near the Bristol Channel. It had two Magnox reactors, built by a consortium of AEI and John Thompson with the reactors supplied by the Nuclear Power Group. The Berkeley Nuclear Laboratories research center stands just south of the station.

Construction began in 1956, and the reactors were connected to the grid in June 1962. Reactor 2 was permanently shut down in October 1988 and reactor 1 in March 1989. All fuel was removed from the site in 1992, the turbine hall was demolished in 1995, and the cooling ponds were demolished in 2001.
