About This Site
Written by NukeWorker from public records: facts that do not change. Operator, status and capacity come from the live data elsewhere on this page. Sources: Wikipedia: Douglas Point Nuclear Generating Station.
Douglas Point was a nuclear power station on the shore of Lake Huron at Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario, on the site where the Bruce station was later built.

Atomic Energy of Canada Limited built and owned the plant, and Ontario Hydro ran it. Construction began on 1 February 1960. The 200 MWe CANDU pressurized heavy-water reactor reached criticality on 15 November 1966, was connected to the grid on 7 January 1967, and entered service on 26 September 1968. It was Canada's first full-scale nuclear power plant, and its experience informed later CANDU stations. Douglas Point was permanently shut down on 4 May 1984.
