Construction of Unit 1 began on 1 August 1972, followed by Unit 2 on 23 December 1977, Unit 3 on 1 October 1979 and Unit 4 on 1 April 1980. All four are Westinghouse-type pressurized water reactors. Unit 1 was connected to the grid on 26 June 1977 and entered commercial operation on 29 April 1978. During a refueling outage on 9 February 2012 the plant lost off-site power for about 12 minutes, and the event was reported a month late. Unit 1 was permanently shut down on 18 June 2017.
