The Oskarshamn nuclear power plant is on the Baltic Sea coast at Simpevarp, about 25 km north of the town of Oskarshamn, in Kalmar County, Sweden. All three units are boiling water reactors.

Construction began in 1965. Unit 1 was connected to the grid on August 19, 1971, Unit 2 on October 2, 1974, and Unit 3 on March 3, 1985. On September 23, 2003, a shutdown of Unit 3 contributed to a power outage in southern Sweden and eastern Denmark. Unit 2 was permanently shut down in December 2016 and Unit 1 on June 19, 2017.
