The project was approved in February 2019. CGN originally planned AP1000 units but changed to the Hualong One pressurized water reactor design. Construction began on Unit 1 on 26 December 2019, Unit 2 on 15 October 2020, Unit 3 on 10 June 2025 and Unit 4 on 10 May 2026. Unit 1 was connected to the grid on 13 February 2026 and Unit 2 on 4 July 2026.
