Construction began on 26 January 1968. The plant had a single boiling water reactor built by AEG. The reactor first reached criticality on 20 October 1971 and was connected to the grid on 18 December 1971. Inspectors found hairline cracks in the core shroud, and after the regulator demanded a replacement, the operator decided to shut the plant down. Operation ended on 26 August 1994. Dismantling of the plant was completed by summer 2014.
