Hey. This my story and question: I was on deployment, got some bad news from home. I was taken off the ship for suicidal thoughts and placed on limited duty. After six month period was found fit for full duty, but do to medication I am being removed from submarine/nuclear field. I was given the option of cross-rating or getting out. Will I have any difficulties getting my clearance again in the civilian world? My clearance was not removed in the navy. I am just medically unfit. I am an ELT with 13 years in. I have qualified EWS on 3 different platforms. Did an instructor tour at NPTU, where I qualified Master Training Specialist. I also spent over year teaching ELT school, which is a classroom and laboratory environment. I completed my BSAST in Nuclear Engineering from TESC. I am very interested in Nuclear Operations Instructor position.

You shouldn't have a problem. Any problems you might have will come out during your MMPI and you will talk them over with a shrink. That is nothing to worry about as long as you are open and honest. Trust me when I say there are folks where I work with a lot more baggage. Just don't lie or try to cover anything up. Good luck.

As long as you are up front with everything you should have no problems getting an Ops Training position.  I know the Nuke industry is looking hard for instructors.  Just be Honest.
