I am a recently separated Nuke ET (served 9 years). I was EWS qualified, Master Training Specialist, I have my BS in Nuclear Engineering Technology and an MBA and was wondering what kind of job opportunities I have with my experience and education? What position can I start at? How much could I start at? I really want to stay in engineering but I want an opportunity to go to management. I am open to moving just about anywhere but my wife and I are looking mostly at moving to Texas. I look forward to what everyone has to say. Thanks for your help.
Possible SRO - if your EWS was >2 yrs.
Probable AO - just like a 6 and outer
Possible I&C (Instrument & Controls) tech - less shift work.
Possible maintenance (I&C) instructor - dayshift in an office environment.
Your nuclear experience is grammer school compared to commercial. Yup, you did good, took advantage of opportunities, ready to make the next step... but it could be at entry level, to get your foot in the door. There are 20 applicants for every job in commercial. At least 5 will be as well qualified as you. Most started looking before they got out, instead of after.
Thanks for your service, good luck
