All I can say is . . . go ahead and take a run at it.  You will find out how well guarded it really is.

Perception is reality!. When the nun penetrated the security at Y-12 there was no danger to the facility even if they had massive explosives with them it was designed to stand alone but the repercussions ware very costly.

  • And did I hear a 9er in there?
Kind of a catch-22, the press wants you to lay out all your security measures so everyone can see them, but if you do that, everyone can see them.  I'm wonder if  the press knows how stupid this is but they write this crap for ratings totally?  Anyway, can't Calvert just get a "protected by wackenhut" sticker for the front door?  That would send all those terrorists running!

"There is also a threat that terrorists could sabotage spent fuel pools, which are “highly radioactive” and usually stored on nuclear plant sites."

As opposed to those spent fuel pools stored elsewhere... ;)

Morris, Ill. & West Valley, N.Y. have/had spent fuel pools without reactors.

I would divulge more details, but I'd have to,.....

I'd have to,...

I forget,... :P ;) :) 8)

Terrorists wont attack a Nuclear Power Plant......because Terrorists are smart.

This video is a joke and being within "600 feet" of a NUCLEAR REACTOR isn't an issue.  Its obvious Calvert doesn't man their vehicle check point anymore (I wish we wouldn't).......its not like the Security Officers were just "not there".

Having said this......to the person who made this video, if you value your life, do NOT attempt this here at Columbia. You will be shot.

I don't think that a radiological release is necessary for a terrorist attack to be successful just the word "nuclear" in the headlines.

Terrorists are looking to kill as many people as possible, not just scare people through the use of horribly informed media outlets.  This is exactly the reason why they slammed the planes into the trade towers......and not Indian Point.

Its kinda like the anti-nukes saying spent fuel in dry cask storage could potentially be used as a dirty bomb by terrorists. WHY would they use spent fuel when they could totally bypass stringent security, the basically impossible task of removing the spent fuel (without dying) and head to the local hospital where they have plenty of high activity sources that could be used.

Also, the media needs to stop calling these idiots from the Union of Concerned Scientists "experts". The only thing that these morons are experts at is spreading lies, fear mongering and being complete hypocrites.

Nuclear Power is the greatest, safest and most efficient method to create massive amounts of base load (grid protecting) power. Its time these whack jobs are put in their place.  Here is just a little (dear to my heart) sample of what I'm talking about.  These fools are not only a threat to Columbia.....they are a threat to Nuclear Power in general   >:(

Edit: If anybody can understand what the hell the Russian guy in the beginning is talking about....please let me know.

When I was in college I met a couple of these people, people against nuclear power that is.  They didn't know anything real about nuclear power and would believe nothing positive about nuclear power. I am pro nuclear power and there are negatives that go along with nuclear power, and there are things that are gray areas, I know this and can have an informed discussion.  These people were so biased it was silly.  I have never met anyone fully against nuclear power who was even borderline rational or informed.
