Can California Cut Its Carbon Without Nuclear? Doubtful

Pacific Gas & Electric Co.’s proposed agreement with several labor and environmental groups to cease operations of its Diablo Canyon Power Plant in central California after 2025 aims to replace the plant’s carbon-free electricity with a mix of renewables, energy efficiency and energy storage. Analysis of the effects of recently shutdown nuclear reactors points to the riskiness of using this strategy to meet California’s stringent carbon-cutting mandates.

it's really not PG&E's business or their shareholder's to carry the burden without recompense,...

I suspect a future demand from PG&E for state and/or federal subsidies, or else,...
