Of course our security already said absolutely no masks inside the protected area. They need to perform face to face identification. You know security, always willing to help out with any realistic issue. I said I don't remember security having an issue with workers wearing SCBAs for fire brigade, PAPRs or full face respirators......who's to say that's not a terrorist down in the cavity detensioning the reactor head?

I am hearing mixed information about wearing a mask. Fouci says it is not needed provided you are keeping that six foot distance and you do not have the virus but that seems to be changing a bit. Also hear that mask if worn may be worse than not wearing if you fiddle with it as the primary mechanism for transfer is contact/touching. Not saying it is not transferred by aerosol droplets just that it is secondary. Guidance seems to be wear it if you want but be careful.

Even if wearing a mask would offer total protection, its obvious Nuclear Security and their perceived risk of bad guys in the protected area is much more important than personal health.

protection factor?!?!?!?!?

I would bet a biscuit and gravy breakfast that it's less than 10 for airborne virus,...

I would bet that the constant contact / touching is 10X worse than not wearing one and just not touching hands to face,...

effective PF - 0,....

these are not fit tested for the average joe on the street,....

they're not just one time use, they're one time touch to apply, and then only touch one more time to remove and discard,...

these masks are a psychological band aid for the masses,...

a best PF of 10 for professional care givers who know and fastidiously implement the rules of minimizing cross contamination,...

c'mon, we do cross contamination minimization for a living,...

we're the LAST people who need this dust mask conversation,....

limerick n.p.p. terror

https://www.pottsmerc.com/news/workers-terrified-at-limerick-nuclear-plant-amid-coronavirus/article_934efb34-76a4-11ea-afbe-17495d88f209.html

I saw that article late last night, and nearly everything I read aligned with people I've been talking to since they arrived on site. Some contractors have simply left citing health concerns. Social distancing during an outage is a difficult thing to do. Compounding it is the fact this outage is taking place in the county with the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state. I expect more positives, and I expect more statements from the company about how much they're doing to combat it. Funny that you asked about in-processing procedures and social distancing during training, and this contractor spoke on those specifically.

OK - I cant take anymore Pennsyltucky fear mongering bs. You are truly gonna associate the terror word with whats going on at an outage ? You and your Neandrathal communication approach need to head to an abandonded steel mill or abandoned Turnpike tunnel and take a chill pill or three. Steelers suck except for Kevin Greene.

Of course!!

Very few workers at the plant right now because they "scrubbed" the work schedule. HRA/LHRA briefs are held in a fairly large room and workers can keep their distance quite easily. Thankfully we are 1 of 2 plants (so I've read) who do not have an outage this year.

I've been watching this thread for awhile, but wasn't at an outage which had addressed the problem. However, I just started one which has. Here are the published RP points to address the COVID19 and the outage.  I am paraphrasing here as it was put out on paper, today is the first 12 hour shift, and I'm lazy.

RP Social Distance Plan points

Shift briefs in break areas

Job briefs via conference calls

Break trailers expanded by 150%

Sanitation strategy
1) 3 workers to wipe RCA exit PCMs
2) workers and RP wipe CP PCMs
3) workers collect/sanitize EADs prior to each use/reuse
4) EAD log in readers moved to area when they are spread out 6' apart
5) normal access doors to RCA control point access/egress areas are removed or blocked open to allow passage without hand touch
6) table top hand sanitizers around RCA CP
7) 6' tape marks on ground for workers waiting to monitor
8)Containment brief area to allow only 4 workers, RPTs will use laser printers for map reference
9) workers will sanitize rad meters when returned and after source check
10) additional turbine bld restrooms opened
11) supervisors will be minimized in common office
12) vendors being utilized for shop augmentation if infections become prevalent
13) Microsoft meetings to be used

Yea, though I walk through the boundaries of containment, I shall fear no dose, for my meters are with me.  My counters, air sample filters, and smears, they comfort me.

This could go into clean humor but continuity I think makes this thread the right location.

This plant has installed covered areas between thermal testing station and the PAF for foul weather.
