Core Power is conducting a feasibility study to integrate BWXT mPower small modular reactors into floating nuclear power plant designs. The project aims to utilize shipyard construction to reduce delivery timelines for high-demand markets. Separately, Applied Atomics has secured exclusive rights to deploy the same reactor technology for land-based commercial facilities in North America, including plans to resume NRC design certification activities.

The mPower small modular reactor (SMR) is an integral pressurised light-water design with 195 MWe or 575 MWt capacity. The feasibility study "will cover baseline information exchange, systems engineering, concept of operations development, product requirements definition, regulatory pathway assessment, marine integration studies and techno-economic analysis".
