Elementl Power has announced plans to develop a utility-scale nuclear facility in Meigs County, Ohio, using GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactors. The developer has signed an Early Works Agreement and filed a request with PJM Interconnection to connect the site to the regional grid for 600 megawatts of output.

This project represents an effort to deploy SMR technology through private financing rather than traditional rate-based models. The proposed timeline targets a 2030 construction start and 2034 completion, pending regulatory approvals from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Ohio Power Siting Board. The development highlights the ongoing industry focus on utilizing existing industrial sites for new nuclear generation capacity.
