US firm unveils 1.5 GW nuclear plant project with 300 MW reactors

Elementl Power plans to construct a 1.5 gigawatt facility in Meigs County, Ohio, utilizing five GE Vernova Hitachi BWRX-300 small modular reactors. The project is privately funded and currently awaits grid connection evaluation by PJM Interconnection. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2030, pending final investment decisions and regulatory approvals from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Ohio Power Siting Board.
