The article completely whiffs that Maybell is a completed and fully reclimated Title 1 UMTRA site. It is one of 19 completed in the US and under the long-term stewardship of DOE LM. https://www.energy.gov/lm/maybell-colorado-disposal-site

If we're going to dig up all 19 disposal cells for uranium ore, might as well dig up the Crescent Junction Cell (Moab UMTRA site ore waste). End the DOE contract there and turn it over to a group like Frontier to dig back up the cell. It's right off Interstate 70 just across the CO/UT line.  Easy pickings.
