Energy Secretary Announces New American Energy Hub at Paducah Site; Savannah River National Laboratory Awarded AI-powered Cleanup Projects Through DOE's Genesis Mission; and much more!

The Department of Energy announced a 100 billion dollar investment to develop an American Energy Hub at the Paducah Site in Kentucky. The project includes a 1.8-gigawatt artificial intelligence data center powered by 2 gigawatts of natural gas generation and 2.6 gigawatts of battery storage, with completion expected by 2031.

This redevelopment utilizes existing infrastructure at the former uranium enrichment site to support high-performance computing and regional grid stability. Simultaneously, the Savannah River National Laboratory is deploying artificial intelligence to accelerate environmental remediation and waste management projects under the DOE Genesis Mission, aiming to reduce long-term cleanup costs across the national laboratory complex.

PADUCAH, Ky. — U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Assistant Secretary of Environmental Management Tim Walsh joined industry leaders and local, state and national representatives last week to announce the development of a new American Energy Hub at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Paducah Site.

"What is the next industry that is going to define the next few decades? There's so much coming to our country, but the most significant of all is artificial intelligence," Wright said.
