Federal regulators issued two violations to the Palisades nuclear plant after workers encountered high airborne radioactivity levels without proper warnings or evacuations. Inspectors found that plant staff failed to follow procedures and evaluate potential internal radiation doses from alpha dust between December and March.

The 767-megawatt facility is currently offline as operators pursue an unprecedented commercial restart following its prior shutdown and decommissioning entry. Plant management has since implemented corrective actions, including enhanced radiological controls and updated procedures, to address the monitoring and oversight deficiencies identified by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
