The Radiation Instrument Index is live: https://www.nukeworker.com/study/instruments/

129 radiation protection instruments on one page, from the RO-2 and the NP-2 Snoopy to the current PCMs, CAMs and EPDs. Find the meter your site runs, see what the DOE RCT exam calls it, and open the manual.

What Every Entry Gives You
  • The exam's name for it: every meter is mapped to the generic type the DOE RCT exam asks about. Ion chamber, GM pancake probe, ZnS alpha probe, gas flow proportional PCM, moderated BF3 or He-3 rem meter. What is on your shelf lines up with what is on the test.
  • Manufacturer specs: detector, window, what it detects, and range. For PCMs, CAMs and counting room gear, the performance numbers. All pulled from the manufacturer's manual or datasheet.
  • The manual: 66 instruments have the manual on file, one click to open. Every entry links to its manual or the maker's datasheet.
  • The names you actually use: search frisker, pancake, rem ball, Snoopy, teletector, BF3. Old brands show who owns the line now: Eberline is Thermo Fisher, MGP and Canberra are Mirion, Victoreen is Fluke Biomedical.

12 Groups, Classic to Current
  • Count rate meters and contamination probes: Ludlum 3, 12, 2241 and 26, 44-9 pancake, 43-5 alpha, 43-68 gas prop, Eberline RM-14, RM-20, HP-210, RadEye B20.
  • Dose rate meters: RO-2, RO-2A, RO-20, RSO-50, Ludlum 9-3 and 19, Victoreen 451P, RadEye G, FH 40 G, RDS-31.
  • High range: Teletector 6150AD-T, TelePole WR, Telepole II.
  • Neutron: NP-2 Snoopy, Ludlum 12-4 rem ball, PRESCILA, WENDI-2, Eberline NRD.
  • Personnel, portal and tool monitors: PCM-1C, PCM-2, iPCM12, PM12, SAM12, Argos-5, GEM-5, Cronos, Ludlum 52.
  • Air samplers and CAMs: HI-Q, RADeCO H-809V, Staplex, AMS-4, iCAM, Alpha 7A.
  • Counting room: Ludlum 3030 and 2929, ORTEC MPC-9604, Tri-Carb, HPGe, ISOCS.
  • Dosimetry: EPDs, DMC 2000 and 3000, InLight OSL, Harshaw 6600 Plus reader, Arrow-Tech pocket dosimeters.
  • Plus: RIIDs, area and remote monitoring, and the calibration gear behind it all.

Each group is tied to its DOE RCT module (2.16 through 2.19, and 2.04 for dosimetry). Search by model, maker, detector or nickname, or check "Has a manual" to see only the ones with a manual on file.

Studying for the RCT core or a site qual? Pair it with the study guides and the practice tests.

The Radiation Instrument Index just grew: https://www.nukeworker.com/study/instruments/

Your replies did this. The page now has 193 instruments, up from 129, and 128 of them have the manual on file, up from 66.

You Asked, It's There
  • RDS-32 and the Tele-STTC-2: the RDS-32 and its wide range telescoping probe are on the page, with Mirion's specs and the RDS-32 user manual.
  • ISOCS and HPGe: search HPGe or specific activity and ISOCS comes up, along with the BEGe and GEM germanium detectors.

64 New Instruments
  • Friskers and probes: Ludlum 177, 2401-P, 2224-1, 44-10, 44-3, 43-1, 44-7 and the 239-1F floor monitor, Eberline E-140, E-600 and ESP-1, Canberra MIP 10.
  • Dose rate meters: Ludlum 9DP and 44-38, Eberline E-520, the RO-3B cutie pie, Victoreen 450B and 450P, RadEye GX, Radiagem 2000, Colibri TTC, ADM-300, RDS-32.

62 More Manuals
Every Ludlum meter and probe on the page now opens its manual. So do the E-600, Alpha 7A, ADM-300, REM 500, RDS-31, RDS-32 and RDS-80, Victoreen 451B and 451P, RadEye B20 and PRD, EPD TruDose, both Teletectors and the Overhoff tritium monitors. The Hanford Radiation Protection Instrument Manual is linked on the Eberline meters it covers: E-140, E-600, RO-3B, RO-7, BC-4 and NRD.

Check "Has a manual" to see only the ones with a manual on file.

Have a manual we don't, from your site's library or the vendor's CD? Send it in and I'll put it on the page. Same goes for a meter that's still missing or a spec that's off. Reply here.
