Idaho officials are facing mounting public pressure to disclose details regarding the state bid for a Department of Energy Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus at the Idaho National Laboratory. Critics point to a lack of transparency concerning potential nuclear waste storage mandates and related federal water rights lawsuits.

The Department of Energy initiative aims to establish regional nuclear hubs paired with massive industrial development, though host communities face complex infrastructure questions. Stakeholders are demanding open hearings on how such large scale projects will impact local water supplies, electrical grids, and long term radioactive waste management obligations.
