Can anyone tell me where I can find some sort of a chart that has x-ray intensities by kvp/ma in mR or R per hour. One of the NDT labs in the Navy just bought a new portable x-ray machine and they need to be able to figure out safe distances from the tubehead at various kv settings.

Scott,  at home so I can't check.  Believe the Rad Health Handbook has a chart; also (I think it's) NCRP Publication 49, something 49 -  I'm an old man, so it's hard to remember these things.  Got copies at work.  I'll check tomorrow and reply with the correct information.

Thank you, I found what i was looking for in the Rad Health Handbook. I found on one of my cd's from RSO school an Electronic copy of the Radiation Health Handbook from January 1970. If anyone is looking for this you can e-mail me for a copy.

Have you checked in the owner's manual?  I seem to recall when I last worked with an x-ray machine that information was in the manual.
