You forgot to mention something vaguely about the atomic energy merit badge in the third paragraph.

But yeah, we try not to allow fundraising messages in the open forum.  However in the Gold members area, feel free.  If we did allow them, we would be overrun with them from the 30,000 registered users.

Unless things have changed dratically since I was a a Cub Master, merit badges are for Boy Scouts - not Cub Scouts.

Having said that, anyone who can support that particular merit badge - do so and have fun doing it.  It's actually rather wide open as to how things get covered.
