Interesting theory, but it is not the right one. There is no "deep state", but there has to be a bogey man.

A site I am 'familiar with', has begun a "pre-sequester" process.
Non-essential folks working from home. Essential folks only on site, who must complete a health screening (self-evaluation questionnaire & temperature).

'If' things get worse, then they would begin the sequester.

Yes

Not to start a political discussion that is for PolySci but I have heard this from more than one source. There must be unintended consequences to how the virus is being handled and misery from other factors of suppression of our economic system. Primarily right now most agree is "flatten" the virus curve and make the financial curve a "V" meaning a rapid recovery after a little more pain.

So what are you pitching for:  the V- quicker cycle, death rates like Italy/Spain or the slow drag out bell cure, but less dead because a couple of ventilators might free up for next chosen patient?
Personally, I think it's already everywhere.  No testing and lots of healthy asymptomatic cases; our fate is likely already set.  You just hope the critical age/immune compromised men are REALLY REALLY taking it serious.
You live in the tobacco belt.  Smoking males over 60 have their hands full.

Not pitching anything this is the reality of what government has to decide. At what point do we kill more people from unintended consequences than the virus. Poverty, depression, and crime rate have a lethality rate too among other unknowns. Living in a prosperous country lenthens you life span, desperation increases crime rate, and depression increases suicide rate. "The knowns, the known unknowns, and unknown unknowns".

From one perspective that would be a good thing as those who have had it would be far less likely to get it again reducing the rate of spread. Provided the current conventional wisdom is correct, and recurrences so far are from testing errors or relapse of original infection.

Since we're late to the party on becoming a pandemic and have the luxury of hindsight, are you hearing of "unintended consequences of the virus (Poverty, depression, and crime rate have a lethality rate too, among other unknowns) ?   China, Iran, Italy SK and Japan: are they showing those issues?   Maybe.  Maybe just not hearing about it.  I can't answer that.

Mounder

I love crushing that reinfection discussion.  The Canadians did a nice investigative report on that claim and dismissed it.  Sick people who are almost healthy, over do it and relapse.  never over it.

I have been pondering a Machiavellian poser. With the COVID 19 pandemic social distancing and emphasis on hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus have we significantly reduced the normal mortality of the seasonal Flu. The precautions to combat the seasonal flu are the same as those for COVID 19. 12,000 to 61,000 annually over the the last ten years have died from Flu in the USA. WHO estimates that 290,000 to 650,000 die each year from the Flu.
Not making a comparison between the viruses just the overall effect on us because of the reaction to the new pandemic. I did a search and there is nothing I could find online.

On a different note:  Has every nuke industry person in the past couple of weeks thought to themselves "I've entered contamination areas my entire career.  I'm more prepared against the mistakes and pitfalls of contamination spread than 99.99% of the world population."

It's easy to not touch your face when you are wearing rubber gloves (and a respirator).  It's hard to not touch your face 24/7.

Hey there
I'm a reporter for Bloomberg -- I cover the nuclear industry and i'm looking into the spring outages. Seems like utilities are in a tough spot. Can't really reschedule refueling, but having several hundred workers move from town to town this year seems like it could be an issue.
Have you heard anything about some of the measures utilities are taking to address this? And of them changing their plans?
Feel free to contact me, or pass this info to other folks if you know someone who's been affected.

Thanks much
Will Wade
