Shaping Our Appalachian Region and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System established a 16-week training program to prepare workers for nuclear outage roles. PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) have announced a new workforce training initiative to prepare Eastern Kentuckians for careers in the nuclear energy sector.

The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a regional training pathway through Workforce Solutions divisions at six colleges: Ashland Community and Technical College, Big Sandy Community and Technical College, Hazard Community and Technical College, Maysville Community and Technical College, Somerset Community College, and Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
