Good morning all, new to the forum here at Nuke Worker, hope everyone is well.  I'm taking the POSS test tomorrow morning in hopes of getting an interview with Duke for an Operator Learner position.

I just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone on here for providing such detailed information on preparing for this exam.  I've searched this forum high and low over the last few weeks and found so many things that helped me prepare.  I've read and studied ad nauseum for this test, only thing left is to do it.  I'm a bit nervous but feel confident in my ability to not only pass, but do very well when it's all said and done.

I look forward to talking with you all in the very near future, and take care...

Good luck Blake.  +K  Are you taking the exam at a community college?

Ghost_007

The exam is at Duke's training facility in Mount Holly, NC.  It's about a two hour drive from me, so I'm driving up this afternoon and staying in Mount Holly for the night...

Good luck, keep us posted!

Well, I received an email today from Duke stating I passed the test, the email also confirmed an interview in late October, fingers crossed...

You going to the Auburn game?

Ghost_007

Planning on it, you?

What date/where is your interview? I pass the POSS on the same day as you. My interview is October 5 at Catawba.

Good Luck!

Ghost_007

My interview is Oct. 25th at Oconee, did you take your test in Mt. Holly?

Zacm829

Yep, I was in the 9am session. Any idea of how many positions they are trying to fill at each plant?

Ghost_007

I was in the 9 a.m. session as well...don't have any idea as to how many they're bringing in...

I've heard it is a jinx to discuss interviews on Nukeworker, just sayin....   [whistle]

I'm scheduled to take the POSS test the 15th at McGuire.  Any advice?

Pass it.  :)

Don't underestimate it. I've seen some differing feedback about this test, particularly the math section. The version I took had 46 math questions with a 17min time limit. Each answer key had "E. None of the above", and two of the 46 actually were E. The algebra was very basic and could be done in my head. The two step unit conversions were the "time consuming" questions, so I'd suggest to memorize as many conversions as possible ahead of time and skip and save all the two step conversions until the end. This test is all about speed AND accuracy. If you can't answer a math question immediately just by looking at it, move on to the next one. Don't waste time on one question when you might have answered 3 easier ones (correctly!) in the same timeframe.

Good luck!
