Figure I'd ask and see.  I start there on 10/20.

HousePuke

So you start on 10/20?  A new house job?  If so I wish you luck.

radbitch

Been a rad tech at Calvert off and on since 89. Look forward to meeting ya.

radbitch

P.S. Calverts not the same without housepuke and RTroja!!!!!! Miss ya'll much!

kwicslvr

Just wish I could get my security badge already so I don't have to be babysitted everywhere!

HousePuke

Thanks Radbitch!  I miss y'all too. ;)

Hey radbitch,

Now that I meet ya you even look like your avatar ;)

See ya around.

RDTroja

Miss you, too, Radbitch. Maybe I will see you at the next outage. Miss HousePuke, too -- but he isn't as easy to look at.  :-*

Hey, I resemble that remark! 8)

I worked CC in 92 and 93.  It was a nice place to work.

Arnold_Ziffel

What I miss about Calvert (other than RadBitch) is the way they used to conduct business. The plant in '99 had a strong HP dept and it was like stepping back into the 80's for how we were backed and the attitude toward Rad Safety. Now its "get it done". I know they have lost several good people who can't deal with being a part of a program that has no spine, 'nads or frontal lobes. I see them on the same path they were on when they came close with the diver. I guess it will take a major wake-up call to bring their program back.
BTW, glad you're doing well away from the nuclear family, HousePuke.

HousePuke

Very well put Arnold.  That was one of the main reasons (amoung many)that I left.
I believe it's only a matter of time.  The sad part is that the change in philosophy will not be cited as a reason.

RADBASTARD

At the last sgrp safety was only implemented and preached as long as the work wasn't inpacted. Just like when they lifted the TLD and had it hanging right over the welders head when they were welding the steam dome.
They said hey it was ok.
They said that they didn't get hurt when they put the TLD up over their heads when the were cutting out the steam dome.
At the same time they wanted the hp's to stand under it to monitor for radiagraphy on the S/G.
To many things going on at once to hurry to get the job done.
Anymore it's about getting the job done ahead of schedule, and if they tell you anything different they are bold face lying bastards.
God I miss the 80's WHEN SHIT WAS SLOW,but I do love the housetechs there and it is one of my favorite places to work. That means even you HOUSEPUKE and RADBITCH.
HOUSEPUKE I hope your new job is alot less B.S?

garycom

I worked the spring 2000 outage covering generators. They had a great set up for remote monitoring- I have heard it's even better now. The cafeteria is by far the best I have experienced at a nuke plant.

HousePuke

So who is planning on working Calverts next outage?  Just curious how many returnees.

I will be in sunny southern Florida doing the St. Lucie thing. Would probably go to Calvert if it didn't conflict schedule-wise, but the money and the weather are better on the Island.  Almost a shame not to work 15 minutes from home, but...

k-linegirl

very few returnees are returning this time. about 20 to 25%.

RADBASTARD

k-line girl i'm sorry we won't be back this time. Why do you think hardly anybody came back this time?
email me and tell me who is back-radbastard

HousePuke

Since it's not a SGR this time (read that as a shorter outage) and it's starting later in the sring than previously Calvert may not fit into some folks schedules this year.

Iron Chef you lost me on that one.  Care to elaborate?

Look for the long line of unhappy faces at HR if outage goals aren't met.  The new regime will make CC employees accountable for performance, instead of hiding behind the perception of poor contractor performance.

This topic thread should be hopping pretty good through the upcoming outage.
There are the Habs, and the Hab nots.

cairnit

A lot of the returnees from the last 2 outages are at the oconee SGR.

radbitch

I'm back housepuke but not HP, trying to get this move-in coordinator stuff on my resume. Troja how long are you in FL? I'm heading for Turkey point when calvert if over.

HousePuke

I hope it works out well for you Radbitch.  I miss ya!
