Westinghouse Electric Company is investing approximately one billion dollars to construct a new nuclear fuel manufacturing facility in Richland County, South Carolina. This project represents the first fleet-scale nuclear fuel factory built in the United States in over fifty years.

This enhanced fuel allows for extended operating cycles and power uprates at existing reactors, helping plant operators meet rising demands for baseload electricity. The expansion also strengthens domestic supply chains for commercial nuclear power generation.
