Navy Trained, KAPL employed

I have over 15 years with KAPL, including over 10 operating, maintaining and training sailors on one of the last Prototypes at KSO. I also spent several years in engineering coordinating maintenance outages. I am Engineer qualified by NR, and was the Operations Manager for one plant. For the past 2 years I have been designing the power plant that will go on our next class of nuke boats. Can I find a commercial nuke job that will fit my skills by looking at the job postings, or should I try a headhunter?

This is one of the rare cases that might be a good case for a headhunter. But I would recommend trying the other route first (because so many on this board have found headhunters just talking a good talk without getting good job offers).

There are definitely jobs out there for people that can schedule outages. I don't know the software used by KAPL, but if it is anywhere similar to P-3 (Primavera?) then you have a big leg up.

It is a little early for new plant design, but a great time to get your feet wet in commercial nukes. You might also consider DOE (if generating power isn't your only goal).

Yeah, but I am not like most. I made it all the way through the pipeline before jumping. Just dumb, I guess.
