what is the number of House RP techs at VY??
not incld ALARA & the like...just straight up house RP ops techs are there??
thx.!

retired nuke

Interesting question, because there are only shift qualified RP techs there. The folks that work in Instruments, RW, ALARA, etc maintain their quals for shift, and can be reassigned at management's discretion.

Currently 14 fully qualified  (just lost 1 to training)
8 newbies that are 99 44/100 % qualified - final sign-off in progress

Of the 14 - 3 in RW, 2 in Inst, 2 in ALARA, 4 (should be 6) on rotating shift, 1 on FIN team, 1 assigned as Maint Liason, 1 assigned to the checkpoint to do everything.....

Of the 8 - assignments are pending, a couple to shift, others spread out to get ready for our outage in May.

we should have some more openings by the end of the year.... :D

Had hoped to return to VY for the outage, but also have a rule of NEVER working at the same plant for less money, missed the last outage for the same reason.  But now they are planning on raising the minimum wage so things should get better!!!

Look forward to another jaunt up there  (a  yuh).  Hope to be able to see more of the region before leaving this time.  Besides, this place has the best food onsite.

You may want to try some of the ski chalets in the area... With the ski season wrapping up you might find a decent deal... They are fully equipped...

Be aware housing is expensive and difficult to find in that area...

BTW, VY is one of the best plants to work at. 8)

Yeah  got my acceptance letter and report date... that is if Pilgrim is gonna let us out on time.  Looking forward to working with Doug Bruce again... and days as well.

Gotta love that cafeteria there, probably the best in the business

Looks like a strike!!! Retiree benefits and wages seem to be the issues. Lowest paid in the Northeast. Has anyone been called?

retired nuke

Yep, 2.75% COL, increase in insurance costs, big thanks from the bosses for a 545 day record run....If you get called, please stay home. Details and updates in the next day or so - union voted to strike if the negotiating committee didn't bring back an acceptable offer - no further vote needed at this point. ;)
